This meal got thrown together after a long day and not really wanting to cook. After we ate it, I realized how genius it was and knew I needed to share the “recipe”!

I put “recipe” in quotes because honestly, this is a lazy gal’s (or guy’s) dream dinner. There really isn’t any sort of cooking involved as it is made with prepackaged fries and gyro meat.

Kind of cheating, but so delicious that you’re not going to care!

Easy Freezer Staples

Keeping frozen french fries on hand makes throwing together a healthy meal that also curbs your cravings a cinch.

Yes, frozen fries are technically “processed food,” but you can purchase brands with minimal additives. Purchase whatever fries your heart desires!

The pre-cooked gyro meat is also a delicious savior for weeknights. I got mine at Costco and it’s melt-in-your-mouth good.

Gyro meat is high in fat, so if you need to watch calories, you can easily swap it out for chicken shawarma meat (which is also found at Costco!) You can also grill your own chicken or beef skewers. It’s up to you.

This “recipe” is more of a concept. You can swap every single ingredient for something you prefer. No matter what, you’re going to love it!

Ingredients

Here is what I used to make these loaded sheet pan gyro fries. As I said above, you can swap any of these ingredients for something that suits you better. Make it your own!

Ingredients for gyro fries including bowl of frozen fries, gyro meat, and toppings.
  • Frozen french fries
  • Greek Seasoning to season the fries
  • Gyro Meat (can also uses shawarma, grilled chicken, whatever you want)
  • Lettuce
  • Tzatziki
  • Feta Cheese
  • Various Toppings (pickled onions, chopped tomato & cucumber)

Instructions

Making these loaded gyro fries is very easy:

Bowls of toppings including lettuce, tzatziki, tomato, and cucumber.

1. Preheat & Prep

Preheat your oven as directed on the frozen French fry bag.

Prep your toppings. Chop the lettuce, cucumber, tomato, onion, olives, or anything you would like. Set aside.

Fries on a sheet pan with someone holding a jar of greek seasoning.

2. Season & Bake

Open your package of frozen French fries and dump it onto a parchment-lined sheet pan.

Season with prepared Greek seasoning to taste. I like to use about 1 tablespoon, but you may want more or less depending on how salty your seasoning is.

Bake the fries according to package directions until they are golden brown.

3. Heat the Meat

While the fries bake, prepare the gyro meat as directed on the package. If the meat is precooked (as mine is), you can heat it in a skillet. Remove from heat when finished.

4. Assemble

When the fries are done, prepare your gyro fries! Top fries with cooked gyro meat, veggies, feta, tzatziki, etc.

You can make individual bowls to customize, or do this on the full sheet pan. Enjoy!
